Road
Daire Finn had a welcome return to racing by winning the Celbridge AC 5km in a time of 14.59. In the same race,
Orla Duffy set a PB of 17.50 to finish 4 th , while Cristin Scollard finished 1 st in the Summer Night Park West 5k in a
time of 18.23. Oran O’Hare also finished 1 st at the Malin 5k.

Track
The National Senior T&F championships were held in Morton Stadium, Santry, on 29 th and 30 th July where a total of 9
DCH athletes competed. Lauren Tinkler, Cliona Murphy, and Jodie McCann tackled the 5000m where they
finished 9 th , 10 th , and 11 th respectively. Meanwhile in the Men’s race, Pierre Murchan finished just outside the medals
in 4 th . Aoife Carr progressed nicey through her heat in the 1500m and finishhed 14 th in the final. Oran ran 4.19 in a
tactical and highly competitive 1500m heat. Meanwhile, over the 800m, Niamh Carr and Elizabeth Gahan finished
5 th and 7 th respectively in the final after navigating tactical heats the previous day. For many of the athletes, these
championships capped off a very busy season of racing!


A number of athletes also competed at the final Dublin Graded Meeting of the year which was held in Santry. Those
competing included Cliona, Edel Monaghan, and Orla Duffy who finished 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd in the 3000m. A special
congratulations also to Clare O’Connor on winning her section for the overall league of the 2023 Dublin Graded
Series!
Pierre and Cliona both finished their track seasons by racing over 5000m at the Trafford BMC meet in Manchester.
Pierre set a PB of 13.52 to finish 7 th while Cliona ran 16.45.

Training & Upcoming Racing
After a relatively quiet month of training and racing in August, athletes will be getting back into the regular training
routine through September, with some targeting the Dublin 5k road championships in Ratfarnham before the cross-
country season officially kicks off with the Dublin Novice Championships on 8 th October. This will mark the first of 9
cross country championship races held in Ireland over the season, which will conclude with the National Intermediate
Championships on 11 th February.
