03/03 National Senior Indoors & Hoka x Run Hub Event
A great weekend at the Nationals Seniors with 3 medals on the Sunday! A first national Senior title for Lucy in the ladies 1500m and chased home by Niamh for a magic 1,2 finish. Fiona also made the 1500m final.
In the Men’s final of the 1500m, Ronan won his first national medal finishing 3rd in a highly competitive race.
Earlier in the day, Philip placed 4th in a very tactical 3000m final while Orla placed 7th in the ladies equivalent. Chris raced 9.38.47 in an earlier heat of the 3000m while Karen ran 4.46.47 in her 1500m heat on the Saturday.
Jodie raced 4.10.66 for the 1500m at the Scottish Athletics Indoor Invitational 2026 meeting today in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow!
On Friday evening at the Runhub Hoka 5 x 1 mile mixed relay at the new track in MSB, a DCH selection of Oran to Claire R to Isaiah to Edel to Conor D took home the win with some great runs on the evening – well done to all!

Main highlights were Jodie’s 2nd place finish in Ourense, Spain over 1500m in 4.12.67. Niamh raced 4.25.69 in the same race!
Over in London, Isaiah raced 16.24 for 5K in the Battersea Parkrun, while Aoife Carr placed 23rd overall in the Scottish National Long Course XC championships in Falkirk!
Sean’s had a great leg of 1200m leg for Villanova in Philadelphia – the 3rd fastest DMR in collegiate history – great racing Sean!
15/02 National Inter Champs
What a way to finish our XC season! Hats off to our ladies Intermediate squad in mucky Abbotstown today on winning the National team title and to Fiona on winning the National Individual title!
Great racing by our leading quartet, and mighty packing from the remainder of the squad (& lovely to see Claire R back in action).
Fiona was always to the fore from the start and gradually extended her winning lead over the 4 laps, running out the victor by 12 secs!
Eavan moved through the field to get up to 6th, with Karen, Aine & Claire making steady progress throughout to place 10th, 13th & 16th respectively.
Grace came through the field to make top 20, and was ably supported by Muireann in 27th, Cliodhna in 29th, Katie 31st, Lorna 38th, Aoife D 48th and Edel 53rd

Midweek, at the most recent NIA Live meeting, both Karen & Fiona placed 2nd in their respective races – 2.18.80 in the 800m for Karen and 5.04.52 in the mile for Fiona (through 1500m in 4.43.6) – great speed preparation for todays XC!
Over in the US, Ronan raced 3.57.23 for the mile at the Asics Sound Invite in North Carolina (race won by Cole Hocker in a new American mile record of 3.45.94) – great company & experience here for Ronan! Ronan is now running with US based Team Diadora!
Also in the US, Ailish ran a new indoor 3000m PB of 9.26.56 at the Husky Classic in Seattle, placing 4th overall in the 4th heat.
On Saturday at TUS Athlone, Lucy won the ladies invitational 1500m in 4.22.80 (a speedy 31 secs last 200m) with Orla 6th with a new PB of 4.29.25.
On Thursday night at the Armagh International 3K & 5K road races, Orla (representing Ireland for the first time) ran 9.45 for the 3K, while Oran raced 9.12 in the men’s race! (no pics from Armagh)

All eyes were on the European Clubs 4 x 1500m Mixed Relay in Albufeira, Portugal where the DCH quartet put in a superb effort, missing out on the medals by only 3 seconds – behind SC Benfica, SC Lisbon and Decimes from France!
Paul led the team out, on his International debut, with a solid effort to hand over in 7th place.
Niamh took up the gauntlet and raced smart over the first half of her lap before gradually claiming back seconds on all the teams in front of her over the final 600m. Similarly, Philip produced a superb 3rd leg to take us back closer to contention and ahead of Ennis TC in the chase to the changeover zone!
Lucy continued in chasing mode and moved into 4th inside the first 400m of her leg – starting some 7 secs down on the French Club Decimes – who were running their Swiss 1.59 800m athlete on their anchor leg! She closed to within 3 secs over the last half of the race – with the club finishing their highest ever finish in 4th place!
In 2024, we debuted at this championship event finishing 9th overall before last year getting up to place 5th. This year’s team was 22 secs faster than last year effort (over an identical course) and 45 secs quicker that our debut in 2024! Well done to our squad!
Closer to home, at the Rathcoffey GAA 10K in County Kildare, Michael clocked 34 mins 33 secs for the distance with Cliona easily winning the ladies race with 36 mins 5 secs

Midweek action from the NIA Live meeting on Wednesday evening saw Paul open up his indoor season with a superb 1500m PB of 3.52.71 – a great preparation and confidence run before his debut for the club at the European Clubs Mixed Relay XC team event in Albufeira, Portugal this Sunday.
Edel and Karen opened their respective indoor seasons at the NIA meet with 5.02.02 and 5.08.18 in the Ladies mile! In addition, Niamh Bergin opened her indoor season with 61.99 in the Ladies 400m.
At the Leinster Indoor championships in Athlone, Isaiah had a busy weekend with 4.28.57 in the 1500m and 2.08.61 in the 800m (both Junior races).
Over the weekend, Niamh C continued her excellent indoor season with an impressive 2nd at the EAP Scottish International meeting in the Emirates stadium with 4.40.81 in the Ladies mile – equally good preparation for her 3rd run at the European Mixed Relay XC on Sunday. This excellent run comes after last weeks excellent win over 2000m in Pombal, Portugal.
At the Meeting De L’Eure Val de Reuil 2026, Jodie continued her indoor season with 4.38.66 in the Ladies mile!
Over in the US, Ronan opened his season with an impressive winning mile run of 3.55.84 at the Washington Invitational / Mile City Indoors 2026 meeting. Competing at the same meet, Ailish raced 9.32.97 for the 3000m (Friday) and 4.58.31 for the mile (Saturday) – a tough opening double! Well done to both Ronan & Ailish!

Another week of action at home and abroad for some of our club athletes with Faye, Cliona & Sinead winning the ladies team prize at the Raheny 5 miles on Sunday.
In addition, Faye finished 2nd overall with a time of 27.04, with Cliona clocking 28.05, and Sinead timed at 31.04. Aoife Ni B ran 34.02 and Aoife D 35.13.
In the Men’s race, Chris recorded an excellent time of 26.31. Well done to all in Raheny!
Overseas in France, Jodie opened her indoor season with a 3rd place finish at the World Indoor Tour Bronze meeting in Lyon, clocking a spritely 4.11.51 for the 1500m.
In Portugal at the World Indoor Tour Challenger meeting in Pombal, Niamh & Lucy finished an excellent 1,2 in the Ladies 2000m in times of 6.01.91 and 6.02.03 (the first four finishers within 1 sec of each other).
Similarly Philip recorded an excellent time of 5.08.70 finishing 2nd over the same distance in the Men’s race despite interference

Congrats to our Ladies Intermediate team on finishing 2nd overall behind Liffey Valley at the Leinster Intermediate XC Championships in Bagnelstown, Carlow. Eavan continued her good recent form with another individual medal (3rd), followed by Aine (5th), Cliodhna (14th) and Muireann (16th). Next home for the Harriers were Ellen in 20th, followed by Aoife Corr 21st, Lorna 23rd and Edel 28th. This sets the Ladies team up nicely for the National Intermediate Championships in Abbotstown on Feb 15th. Our sole representative in the Men’s race was Chris, who finished an excellent 12th overall! Well done to all our athletes in Carlow!

Some recent action in the New Year saw Faye storming to an easy win (16.26) at the Tom Brennan Memorial 5K in the Park on New Year’s Day with other finishers including Lorna (20.34) and Chris (16.57).
On the Sunday in St. Annes’s Park, the DCH Women’s Inter team placed 3rd overall in the Dublin Championships behind Clonliffe Harriers and Liffey Valley with Eavan (3rd overall – great to see Eavan back), Katie (10th), Cliodhna (16th), Lorna (19th) and Aisling 39th
Indoors in Scotland, Aoife Carr raced 9.49.04 for the 3000m at the Scottish 3K champs in the Emirates Arena, Glasgow on the Sunday!

A busy weekend of action at home and abroad for many of our athletes! On Saturday morning at the Jingle Bells 5K, the DCH ladies took the overall team prize, with Faye 2nd in 16.19, Orla 5th with 16.38, Edel 8th with 17.01 and Cliona 9th with 17.06.
The leading quartet were supported by Sinead (18.54), Aislinn (19.26), Ellen (19.38), Muireann (20.22), Clare (20.26) and Aoife NiB (21.15).
Philip placed 5th overall in the race with 14.27, Isaiah ran 16.23 (new PB) and Chris 16.36!
Over in the US, Ailish raced 16.45.40 for 5000m at the Sharon Colyear-Danvile indoor seasonal opener at Boston University while over in Scotand, Niamh raced 4th overall over 8.6KM at the Scottish Districts XC with 33.40 (a mere 30 secs behind the winner) – great racing ladies!
At a wet and mucky National Novice XC championships in Abbotstown – the ladies team finished 6th overall and were led home by Fiona in 15th, Karen 39th, Grace Anne 51st, Aine 58th, Katie 69th, Cliodhna 78th, Aoife Co 83rd, Lorna 99th, Edel 107th, Laura 111th and Aoife D in 124th.
Well done to our Men’s team who competed later in the afternoon – with great runs from Michael, Tadgh, Conor, Alex & Ronan. It was great to see a Men’s team competing at a National XC championships this year!

National Senior XC Champs – Derry

A tough day all round at the National Senior XC championships in Derry – with high expectations of a team medal in the Ladies race. A strong squad toed the line on a wet and mucky course in the Templemore Sports Complex!
Jodie led the team home in 15th, followed by Niamh Carr in 29th, Lucy in 31st and Orla in 36th. The scoring quartet were strongly supported by Edel in 43rd, Cliona in 56th, Aoife C in 57th and Fiona in 60th.
In the team standings, we just missed out on team medals with Leevale AC retaining their team title with 53 points, from Finn Valley with 76 points and DSD with 105 points! The DCH ladies totalled 111 points on the day.
In the Senior men’s race, both Philip (21st) and Pierre (38th) acquitted themselves well, with conditions at their absolute worst – rain, wind and that extra bit of muck, by race 10! Great racing lads!

Dublin/Leinster Senior XC Champs – Kilbeggan
The Dublin XC champs were held in conjunction with the Leinster XC champs at the Kilbeggan racecourse in Westmeath, yesterday! The Ladies team defended their Jim McNamara team title (for the 5th year in a row) with a resounding 1,2,3 finish from Orla, Edel & Lucy. The leading trio were well supported by Cliona (only 2 weeks since her DCM exploits) in 18th (8th overall in Dublin champs), and followed closely by Karen 26th, Grace 32nd, Cliodhna 37th, Ellen 42nd, Edel Mc 43rd, Claire O’C 44th, Aoife Corr 45th, Lorna 49th, Aoife D 51st and Laura 52nd (no fewer than 14 ladies racing). In the overall team standings, DCH were comfortable winners with 14 points, from Clonliffe Harriers with 31 points and Sportsworld AC 3rd with 74 points!
In the Men’s race, Pierre showed a remarkable return to form with 2nd place overall from Colm Rooney of Clonliffe – great racing considering time out from training and racing in recent weeks!
In the Junior Men’s race, the club were well represented by Aaron and Isaiah – both gaining valuable experience on the bigger stage!
Over in Scotland at the Scottish short course 4K XC championships held in Lanark, Niamh C (13.23) finished a close 2nd (only 3 seconds) to Morag Miller – great racing Niamh!

Another great weekend of action for the DCH ladies with Leinster team and individual successes at the Leinster Novice XC championships in Gowran on Saturday and a top 5 team placing for our marathon ladies in the Dublin City marathon earlier today!
We start with the Leinster’s in Gowran on Saturday – distant positive memories of winning the National Senior Ladies team title 2 years ago!
This time our Novice squad emulated that feat, with Fiona romping to an impressive 23 second victory over the 4km in 14.48 and followed in the top 5 by a great run from Aine with 15.42.
Excellent team support from Grace in 13th and Katie in 19th ensured the team title with 38 points from Sportsworld 2nd with 71 points and Parnell AC 3rd with 117 points. This scoring quartet were well supported by Cliodhna in 24th, Ellen 26th, Clare O’C 33rd, Aoife Corr 40th, Edel Mc 41st, Laura 43rd, Lorna 45th, Aoife D 48th and Aisling 71st – great team packing! Incredible to see DCH have 13 ladies finish in the same race!

Earlier today at the DCM, Cliona on her marathon debut, raced to a superb top 16 finish with 2.47.23 (9th Irish finisher) and was ably supported in the team race by Sinead with 3.04.28 (new PB), Aislinn with 3.06.40 (new PB) and Lily with 3.36.07 (just back from injury). The ladies were overall 4th Female Senior team!
Well done too, to Conor S, our sole male representative who finished in 3.07.43 – great running Conor!

A great day for the club at the Autumn International XC races in Abbotstown with the mixed relay squad of Niamh, Pierre, Lucy & Philip defending their National team title – from Ennis Track AC and Nenagh Olympic AC. The club have now qualified for the 3rd consecutive time for the European Club Relays Championships to be held in Portugal in February 2026!
Later in the day, Orla finished 13th overall in the Ladies race over 6km, with Vlad placed 22nd in the Men’s 8K – great seasonal openers by both!

This Sunday, cross country got underway, at the Dublin Novice XC championships in the Phoenix Park, our Ladies team finished 6th overall with Cliodhna leading the squad home in 20th. She was followed by Claire M in 28th, Muireann in 40th, Lorna in 42nd, Laura in 43rd and Rachael in 50th. Our sole representatives in the Men’s race was Michael and Ronan.


The club had good representation at both the Irish Universities XC championships in Tymon Park on Saturday where Lucy was crowned the Ladies champion for 2025, representing MTU – well done Lucy. Also competing for their respective universities were Fiona (UCD), Karen (TCD), Juliet (UCD) and Clare (TUD). In the Men’s race, Michael was our sole representative competing for TCD
Down under in Melbourne, former Celtic / DCH athlete Richard Lombard raced 2.50.46 over the marathon distance while Eimear clocked 85.16 in the Ladies ½ marathon – well done to both!

Last weekend Sinead (1.26.50) and Aislinn (1.27.10) were 5th and 6th women home racing the Ratoath ½ marathon, in preparation for the DCM in 5 weeks’ time!
This weekend at the Berlin marathon – both Tadhgh (3.07.14) and Michael (3.19.20) completed the renowned distance in challenging heat – well done lads!
On Saturday morning at the Abbotstown Park Run, we had 10 athletes in action (good novice prep. training); and all acquitted themselves admirably – first home Aine with 19.58, Karen (20.42), Katie (21.48), Ellen (21.53), Cliodhna (22.05), Edel (22.42), Claire (23.13), Clare (23.31), Aoife D (23.52) & Aisling (25.55).
At the Castlegar International XC on Saturday, Orla returned from our Portugal Camp and placed 2nd overall over the 6.25 Km course in 23.00 – a nice confidence booster & seasonal opener!
During the past week, Eoghan ran a solid 15.54 at the ALG 5K Corporate Team Challenge on Wednesday evening with Aislinn clocking 19.50 (amid her DCM training just 3 days after Ratoath Half) and Laura with 21.37 both placing as part of mixed and women’s teams.
Well done to all!

On the roads Faye continued her recent excellent form with a busy winning double – firstly on Saturday with a victory over 5K (16.53) at the Rathkenny race in Meath, and then on Sunday with an impressive 58.35 at the St. Cocas AC 10 miler in Kilcock – well done to Faye!
At the Frank Duffy 10 mile, the same weekend, Aislinn (66.19) and Sinead (66.22) raced their first race of their DCM training journey. More impressively here, Pierre romped to an easy 49.02 debut 10 mile victory at the Frank Duffy – great racing Pierre!

Following on from this Edel (17.31) and Aine (17.40) raced impressive times at the Celbridge 5K and Cliona popped out 79.32 for the Antrim Coast ½ Marathon – a good preparation run with DCM about 2 months away!
On the track Philip raced a brilliant new 1500m PB of 3.40.60 at the WACT Challenger DCLA – Meeting Voor Mon in Belgium. At the same meet, Orla finished her outdoor track season with 9.42.84 for the 3000m – solid racing after an excellent track season for Orla (new PB’s at every track distance).
On Saturday evening at the Hyatt Centric Hotel in the Liberties, DCH Ladies celebrated “50 Years of Women in DCH” – an amazing gathering of our golden era of female athletes in our club – 14 consecutive National Senior Ladies team titles and twice European team champions! It was great to see so many of our then stars, present on the night! On this occasion, our recent Olympians Nadia Power (2021) and Jodie McCann (2024) were added to the Clubs Honorary Life Vice Presidents role of honour – well deserved for their outstanding achievements in club colours in recent years! It was a great evening, and great praise must go to the organising committee, for their initial vision to host such an event, and the excellent execution of the event itself. Club Captain Cliona hosted the evening with effortless ease!

One athlete standing after a long outdoor track season and Philip brought his great season to a wonderful climax with another sub 4 mins for the mile (3.59.45) at the Monument Mile Classic at the University of Stirling in Scotland over the weekend – well done Philip!
After a well deserved week or two off our Cross Country gang are back in action on Tuesday evenings and looking forward to the season ahead!
