September Captains Report

Road
DCH athletes continued to show their recent form on the roads in recent weeks with the trio of Liam Naughton, Mark Gilligan, and Michael Ryan all competing at the Charleville Half, incorporating the National Half Marathon Championships. Liam was the first DCH man home in 12th place with an impressive time of 69.17. Next across the line was Mark in 75.49 followed by Michael in 75.49. These results will no doubt give the team confidence as they tackle the Dublin Marathon in two weeks’ time. The Charleville Half served as the final race of the Peugeot Race Series which has kept both athletes and coaches busy over recent months. A huge credit goes to all those involved as the club secured 2nd place in the overall standings, a testament to both the athletic performance and logistical skills of club members! Also over the half marathon distance, John Paul Williamson had a great run at the Copenhagen half marathon clocking a time of 68.47. A number of the club’s athletes also got cross country season preparations underway by taking part in the Sport Ireland Campus Park Run. Christopher McGloughlin lead the way home covering the 5k distance in 18:07. Bonnie McFeat was second across the line behind Christopher in a time of 20:28. Bonnie was followed in by Cliodhna Ryan (21:29), Ellen Byrne (22:01), Aoife Corr (22:26), Aoife Donaghy with 22.27, Clare O’Connor with 22.29, Edel McNamara (22.34), Clare Murphy with (22.50), Lorna Wash (23:46), Abbey Corr (25:36) and Lily Casey (26:13).
