August Captains Report

Road
We had a number of strong performances on the roads in recent weeks with Faye Dervan taking the win at the Kilcock 10 Mile race in 60:10 and placing 2nd at the Castlepollard 5k in a time of 17:27. Faye continued her impressive season on the road with a win at the Lucan 5 Mile in a time of 28:06. Meanwhile, Edel Monaghan clocked a time of 17:44 to finish 4th at the Celbridge 5k and Orla Duffy clocked 17:37 to take the win at the Seanie Weldon Ardee & District AC road race. Liam Naughton had an impressive outing at the Frank Duffy 10 Mile where he finished 4th overall in a time of 53:01, a performance that will no doubt give him confidence going into the upcoming Charleville Half Marathon and Dublin Marathon. Eoghan Beary had a fantastic run at the Great North Half Marathon in 68:35. Eoghan followed up this performance finishing 2nd at the ALG 5k in a time of 15:30 where Aislinn Moorhouse also finished in 2nd place with a time of 18:47. Nicolas Edmond finished 7th at the same race in PB time of 16:05. Also over the half marathon distance, Daire Finn was first across the line at the Dingle Half Marathon in a time of 73:22 over some hilly terrain.

Track
Nadia Power raced to a fantastic season’s best time of 2:03.6 over 800m at the Watford BMC showing tremendous improvement as the season progressed. Also overseas, Phillip Marron once again came agonisingly close to the 4-minute barrier clocking 4:01.1 at the Monumnet Mile Classic in Scotland. Meanwhile, Orla Duffy ran 17:26 over 5000m to place 2nd at the Northern Ireland T&F Championships.

Cross Country
Fiona Hawkins opened up the club’s cross-country season with a top 12 finish at the Joe Vigil XC in Colorado and was on the scoring team for Adams State university who claimed the team title on the day.
