Road
Some of our athletes got the 2024 season underway at the Tom Brenan 5k which took place in the Phoenix Park.
Conor Murphy (15.54) led the DCH men home followed by Christopher McGloughlin (16.32), Paul McGloughlin
(19.46), and Joseph McGloughlin (38.46). Meanwhile Orla Duffy had a fantastic run to finish second place in a time
of 16.34. Susan McManus (17.20) was the second DCH woman across the line followed closely by Cristín Scollard
(17.23) who rounded out the scoring DCH team which took the team victory. Goda Buivydyte (19.53), Edel
McNamara (20.06) and Lorna Walsh (21.28) also put down some great performances.
Cross Country
Our only competitor over cross country in recent weeks was Paul McGloughlin who continued his great season with a
time of 31:16 over 6km at the Dublin Masters Cross Country Championship.
Training & Upcoming Racing
The club’s annual Cake Run took place on December 16th where club athletes raced over 5km distance with predetermined handicaps. 15 athletes took part in the race with Christopher McGloughlin first to cross the line followed
by Orla Duffy who claimed the first female and fastest female prizes. Pierre Murchan claimed the prize for fastest
male finishing just ahead of Oisín McKinley and Liam Naughton. While the main focus in the coming week will be
preparation for the upcoming track season, we will still have some athletes competing over cross country at the
Leinster and National Intermediate Championships.
